If you have seen the movie Iron Man, you probably would really love to have Tony Stark's computer fabrication set up. All he has to do is tell his computer what he wants, and it builds it for him in a few hours. Pretty cool. Well, we aren't quite there yet, but we can do some pretty nifty stuff already. Here is a brief description of Great River Machine Works computer services.
Computer aided design (CAD) is used for everything from the layout of a business card to the design of the space shuttle. Creating a design on the computer allows the engineer to visualize very accurately how components will fit together, before any material is cut.
Computer aided manufacturing (CAM) allows a machinist to see the steps a machine will make, allowing him or her to look for possible crashes or material gouging before any real damage is done. CAM also allows the operator to see an accurate representation of how the finished part will look after machining.
At Great River Machine Works, we can help you design your parts 3-dimensionally, creating detailed prototypes that only exist in the computer. After details are worked out, we can then take those designs to our CNC and cut real parts, quickly.
